What if it’s an EDD fraud case. That was not a fraud, but a misunderstanding. Then charge $5000 in unfair penalties. The $4200 was paid back, but they still want $5000 in penalties, and are taking it from my pay roll. HELP!!!!

If the courts have found that fraudulent action has occurred you won’t be able to wipe that out through bankruptcy.

The advice is sound, but sadly at odds with the reality of modern life in the USA. The increased focus on making money from savings is to a great extent due to the reliance on 401(k)s and the undermining of health benefits. The redirection of risk from large co-insured pools to individuals and families forces amateurs to over-reach themselves in their financial dealings (or face disaster in other ways).
